At all of the grade levels, we promote the PYP positive attitudes, especially; cooperation, commitment, responsibility, enthusiasm, appreciation and empathy. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of sports to give them international sports based knowledge. They will have the opportunity to develop their fundamental motor skills and ball skills through modified games, creative play and movement activities. During the following activities, positive attitudes concerning cooperation and competition will be encouraged. Games and activities include: • Propelling objects - overarm and underarm throwing and catching. • Minor games - games designed to utilise skills learned in the Propelling Objects unit, including hockey, basketball and soccer. • Simple games - basic movement skills are practised and refined in a variety of activities, including balancing objects, relay games, shuttle runs and rope activities. • Ball games - basic ball coordination games are played using balls of various sizes. • Athletics - running, throwing, jumping. • Gymnastics - basic tumbling skills, and music and movement. • Swimming - an introduction to water safety and the basic strokes. |
