Grade 2 Courses: Physical Education

At all grade levels, we promote the PYP positive attitudes, especially; cooperation, commitment, responsibility, enthusiasm, appreciation and empathy.

Students will participate in a variety of activities to develop basic skills. They will have the opportunity to practise skills in simple ball games and movement activities, including:

Propelling objects - overarm and underarm throwing and catching.

Fitness testing - basic fitness testing and generally encouraging all students to improve their level of fitness and increase stamina.

Minor games - games designed to utilise skills learned in the Propelling Objects unit, including T-ball, cricket and soccer.

Simple games - basic movement skills are practised and refined in a variety of activities, including balancing objects, relay games, shuttle runs and rope activities.

Ball games - basic ball coordination games are played using balls of various sizes.

Athletics - running, throwing and jumping.

Gymnastics - basic tumbling skills.

Swimming - basic water confidence and skills. Further develop basic stroke technique in breaststroke, freestyle and backstroke.
