Description
The syllabus is divided into three themes:
1. Exploring Change
2. Exploring Groups
3. Exploring Leisure
Through these themes students will develop their ability to communicate
accurately and effectively on selected topics at an advanced level. In
the higher level courses some literary works will be studied. Students
will also improve their ability to understand and respond to the language
demands of transactional and social contexts. Students will be provided
with insights into the culture of the countries where English is spoken.
These courses give students a sound linguistic base for further study,
work and leisure.
Assessment
This course is both a credit course and assessed externally by the IBO
at the end of the second year of study (as part of the IB diploma programme
or as a separate IB certificate).
Students are also externally assessed on their oral skills.
