: Languages A - English |
within the English programme the five strands of Reading, Writing, Viewing, Listening and Speaking are integrated using thematic units. The curriculum stresses the interrelationship between the different areas of learning. The importance of being able to express progression of thought, arguments, feelings, deductions and conclusions and literary exploration both verbally and in writing cannot be over emphasised. The students will develop the necessary skills to reach a level of sophistication in expression that is required for good communication.
The students will study poetry, novels, grammar, plays and creative and expository writing. A sequential programme will bring about the necessary depth of understanding and appreciation of the English language. A special reading programme encourages a life-long love of reading.
