1. Science Skills and Safety
A general unit that introduces safe experimentation and the scientific method. Includes

  • Basic laboratory equipment
  • Laboratory safety
  • Experiments investigating the scientific method.

2. Survival
A biology unit that looks at physical and behavioural adaptations of animals. Includes

  • Adaptations
  • Characteristics that help an animal survive
  • Food chains and webs

3. Pushes and Pulls
A physics unit on force and what forces can do. Includes

  • Measuring simple forces
  • Experiments with mass, weight and friction

4. Solids, Liquids and Gases
A chemistry unit looks at the difference between solids, liquids and gases. Includes

  • The 3 states of matter and the particle activity for each state.
  • Changes of state
  • Boiling points of water and ice

5. Mixtures
A chemistry unit that looks at pure and impure substances. Includes

  • Dissolving and solubility
  • Filtration and distillation
  • Suspensions and emulsions
  • Separating mixtures

6. Energy
A physics unit that investigates energy. Includes

  • Different types of energy
  • Energy transfer
  • Generation of electrical energy

7. Responding
A biology unit that looks at how our bodies respond to our environment. Includes

  • Senses
  • Stimulus and response
