Las nuevas de Español”

Students from Grade 4 have shown great enthusiasm performing and preparing of the Spanish assembly. Our Grade 4 students came with the idea about Macarena. They taught each other the steps, so we only had to arrange the music. As well they wanted to do sing “Sugar, sugar”. They did and excellent job. They had fun. Well done chicos y chicas¡¡

During October, we had great activities. We read some books. We learnt some reading techiniques. We watched some dvds in Spanish. The kids really liked them so we’ll have more coming soon. Now they enjoy singing and learning songs. They worked hard on their portfolios. They were able to add some colour and some decorations to make them personal.

They will be able to follow directions, since starting in January, they will be asked to make use of their Spanish. In the coming month we will continue practising Ser and Estar verbs. We will check out the differences between them e.g. Como es tu perro? Donde esta tu casa?. They will describe and identify physically the family members. They will learn how to use possessive pronouns e.g. Mi perro es grande y marron. They will be introduced to Jugar, Correr and Comer verbs. They will revised the alphabet and its sounds. They will practise their numbers up to 100.

Grade 3,4,5 Continuation
They will be creating dialogues by asking each other their daily routines: when they go to the airport or post office. As well they will be introduced on how to write simple letters to relatives and friends overseas. We shall be using the plural forms of the possessives pronouns e.g. Mis perros, tus amigos, etc.

They will read a simple story of "Don Quijote" to increase vocabulary and learn some of the Spanish culture. We shouldn't forget about all the activities we can do in each topic.

The Spanish students are more organized and independent when using, keeping and maintaining their Spanish notebook. The plastic folder with clear inserts will be used for a more organized and smarter look.
The children will continue to work on some reading skills to be able to read simple reading comprehension exercises. Besides that they will have plenty of practice in allthe major skills.

¡Continua!
Students will continue using the I-books to enhance the learning process through fun software.
Remember parents and children, there is a good selection of Spanish books in our library. There are picture dictionaries, storybooks for different levels, etc.

¡Help!
Hey parents, if you want to improve or review some of the vocabulary introduced, you can create some simple flash cards for your children. The students really need to practise and learn how to write the numbers.
Please read and sign your child's language book and ensure that it is returned to school.

¡Hasta la vista!
