WELCOME TO ART 2008
Your children will have Art once a week. There are two art rooms on the top floor of the C Block. We teach the art curriculum to grades Two to Five. There are opportunities to do after-school art through ECA.
Our department consists of two full-time and one part-time teacher:
Miss Terena Starkey C44
Mrs. Sasha Groufsky C43
and Mdm. Jennifer Chia C43/44
(part-time, not in on Wednesdays)
PYP Art at OFS
Through the process of PYP Art, children are encouraged to explore their creative potential, develop their own style and be risk-takers. The art room environment is fun, safe and serves to build a sense of ownership and appreciation. As children learn about their world, neighbors and themselves, Art aids in reinforcing community, empathy, and tolerance. By engaging in Art, students will develop skills to help them in other areas of their school experience. Art builds a child’s confidence, encourages creative thinking and provides opportunities for exploring media and developing art skills. Personal expression through art supports a well-balanced learning experience.
