Whether watching a Lion Dance, making divas,
visiting with Santa Claus or lighting the Menorah, children participate
in all activities with enthusiasm. Cultural holidays are celebrated in an
inclusive way so all children can participate to support the celebrations
of each other's cultures. Special activities are planned for Deepavali,
Christmas, Hannukah, Chinese New Year and Hari Raya. Parents are invited
to participate in all our activities.

During our United Nations focus, kindergarten children learn about the
cultures of the other children in their class. Parents are an integral
part of this unit, as they are invited to share pictures, stories, songs,
costumes and food from their country with their child's class.
The celebrations culminate with our UN celebration, when children come
to school in traditional dress from their home countries and parents are
invited to tour our classrooms.
One of the noisiest celebrations in the Kindergarten is the Chinese New
Year. The children bring noisemakers to add to the deafening noise of the
drums as they watch the traditional Lion Dance.
One
of the highlights of our literature units is Bookweek. Exciting
activities such as guest readers, dramatic interpretations of favourite
books and sharing favourite books with friends make this an enjoyable
and memorable week for the children. The Book Character Parade is
always full of surprises as the children greet their favourite storybook
characters in the hallways! Parents are invited to view the collection
of books which have been written by the Kindergarten children during
the year.
