April Camp Fever
April Camp Fever
15 - 18 April 2019

The Overseas Family School, in partnership with Kids DiscoveryWorks, is proud to offer exciting new enrichment activities that brings Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) to Kindergarten and Elementary School children. Through early exposure to hands-on experiments and learning activities, children will better understand maths, science and engineering concepts.

Space Camp

Have an aspiring astronaut or astronomer at home? Launch them on a space exploration adventure! Through engaging hands-on experiments and STEM missions, young scientists will learn about Earth, space and our solar system. Kids will have a blast:

  • Exploring the different planets of our solar system and the engineering challenges of space travel...and designing their own Mars lander!
  • Discovering the forces of aerodynamics...with parachutes & stomp rockets!
  • Learning about light reflection & refraction...and building their own telescopes!
  • Experimenting with Newton's 3 Laws of Motion...and launching powerful water rockets, and much, much more!

Junior C.S.I.

Who doesn't love a good mystery? In this forensic science camp, junior C.S.I.s will try their hand at scientific crime-solving and learn all about crime scene processing, fingerprinting techniques, genetics and DNA testing, and more! Junior C.S.I.s will have an opportunity to develop their skills of observation, problem solving, communication, critical thinking and collaboration.

  • Collecting fingerprints and the discovering the role of fingerprints in crime-solving
  • Learning about chemical reactions, deciphering hidden messages and identifying mysterious substances...with forensic chemistry!
  • Exploring heredity and DNA...with monster genetics!
  • Discussing the pros and cons of eyewitness testimony, and testing their own memory and observation skills!

First Robotics: Planes, Trains & Automobiles

In this basic introduction to robotics, kids will have a blast learning to build and program fighter jets, helicopters, rovers and cranes using Lego WeDo! Kids will learn fun facts about different types of vehicles, build simple models and discover how to use programming blocks to make their models move. A fun and engaging way to introduce computational thinking and engineering principles to young learners.

Robotics: BattleBots!

In this fun introduction to robotics, kids will learn how to design and program progressively more challenging robots using Lego WeDo and Mindstorms. Young engineers with discover how to use motors, sensors, and attachments to make their robot perform specific tasks. The camp will culminate in a final competition where kids will battle their bots in the ring...sumo-style!
