AIMS
The Languages B courses aim to enable students to use foreign languages effectively as a means of communication in a variety of contexts: leisure, future study and work. Through the study of a foreign language, students will also learn about the nature of language and the process of language learning as well as develop an awareness and understanding of the perspectives of other cultures.
OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course students should be able to:
- communicate information, ideas and opinions
- demonstrate comprehension of specific factual information and attitudes, expressed orally and in writing
- identify main ideas and supporting details and draw conclusions from spoken and written texts
- understand and appropriately use structures and vocabulary
- request and provide information in both spoken and written contexts
- engage actively in oral production using comprehensible pronunciation and intonation
- take part in formal and informal exchanges related to the areas of interaction and to cultural and international issues.
Note: The objectives will be achieved at different levels of sophistication for the different levels.
