Hello and welcome to Grade 5.

My name is Julie Townson and I come from England.  Originally working in the finance industry, I qualified as a primary school teacher and worked in the Birmingham area for several years.  I have taught in grades 2, 4 and 5 in England, taking on responsibilities for a class and co-ordinating certain subjects across the whole school.  I believe it is also important for children to have opportunities to develop after school and so ran the school athletics club.  This grew so much we set up a cross country team during the winter terms and a track and field team in the summer, competing successfully with children from other schools in the area.

In April 2007, I moved to Singapore with my husband Tom and our two girls;
Lucy, who is 8 and Zoë, who is 12, both of whom attend OFS. We can hardly
believe a year has gone by already.  Life here is so full of new and exciting experiences that time just flies by.

I am now looking forward to returning to OFS for my second year of teaching in Grade 5 and feel sure that the new year will bring many challenges and opportunities for us all, which I look forward to sharing with you when we meet in August.
