The Grade 8 Camp took place from Monday, 21 January to Friday, 25 January.
The students were excited from the very beginning and showed their enthusiasm in all the activities they tried. Those who were hesitant to try the high elements activities managed to overcome their fears and prove to themselves that they were more courageous than they previously thought. A few brave students even made it to the top of the 25 metre climbing wall.
The first night was spent in tents at Heritage Chalets. The second day included a kayaking expedition through the mangroves of Pulau Ubin to the centre of the island, after which they returned to the mainland across the strait. The students showed incredible endurance and positivity in their arduous adventure and enjoyed the experience.
As part of the MYP Action Program, the students visited the Willing Hearts Soup Kitchen to help in the preparation of the 5,000 meals that are daily distributed to marginalised families in Singapore. They all worked incredibly hard.
On the last night, the Grade 8s stayed at Aloha Loyang, which was appreciated by all, as the students barbecued together and rested in comfort. Overall, the Grade 8s had a challenging yet rewarding camp and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
