Elementary School Grade 4 Model United Nations 2021

(8 April 2021)

Published on 16 April 2021

At OFS, Model United Nations (MUN) is uniquely embedded into our Elementary, Middle and High School curriculum to provide students with exciting opportunities to enhance their leadership, diplomacy and collaboration skills, and explore the issues and challenges that impact our planet today. Last week, the Grade 4, student-led Model United Nations General Assembly was held after weeks of diligent preparation in committee and country rooms.

Live-streamed to parents and family around the world, the General Assembly gave students the exciting opportunity to act as delegates representing a particular country. Following set protocols and modelling behaviours such as being well-organised critical thinkers and respectful communicators, students were guided through the formal procedures by our three Deputy Secretary Generals, Kartik Goel, Mahi Vora and Oliver Woodfine.

Final resolution speeches from each Committee Room were presented and voted on by students in their country rooms. For many students, the MUN experience was successful in not only enhancing their ability to think with an unbiased perspective, but also in forcing them to think creatively about realistic solutions to solve some of the burning issues affecting the world today.

Congratulations to the all the speakers and delegates on a job well done!
