75th National School Individual Chess Championship
(16 - 17 March 2024)
The chess boom in Singapore continues with another milestone record of 1600 students successfully competing in the recent 75th National School Individual Chess Championship from 16-17 March 2024. The spacious OFS campus turned into a carnival ground for chess lovers once again welcoming students, parents and teachers from all across Singapore.
After gruelling nine rounds of rapid chess, the winners in the various age-groups were determined: Dang Khoa Nguyen and Myra Kaushik were OFS’ most successful players. Dang Khoa won 7 games finishing 6rd place in the U10-Boys category and Myra scored 6 points winning the 3rd place in the U08-Girls section. OFS’s only kindergarten student Zuo Yifeng gave a fantastic debut by scoring 5.5 points and winning a medal in the international school category for U8 Boys.
OFS's middle and high school players also contributed to the overall collection of medals, making OFS once again a formidable competitor throughout the different age groups from U08 to U20. In total OFS earned 22 medals and trophies against the best chess players in Singapore. Congratulations to all 120 OFS players for giving their very best and taking this important milestone.
