High School Battle of the Bands

This year's Battle of the Bands was a musical treat of genres and musical styles. The bands in the competition performed some wild and energetic new songs and some old classics that we all rocked the night away to. What a treat! We had guest artists performing to add contrast and showcased some amazing musical skills. It was a real luxury to welcome the alumni band ‘Pencil Battery’ performing some of their own material. Another guest performer was local legend Mel Ferdinands who sang a lovely ballad that we all sang along to. The last alumni guest performer was singer songwriter Dru Chen. He blew the audience away with two of his own beautiful songs at the very end of the evening. The winning band was 'Kinda Qualified' and was composed of grade nine students. They were very shocked and delighted to be awarded the best overall band. Their energy, enthusiasm, and musical skills indeed impressed the judges. Overall, this was a feast of music, colour and energy.
