65th National School Team Chess Championship 2024

We are NATIONAL CHESS CHAMPIONS!!
Congratulations to OFS' U10 chess team for winning Singapore's 65th National Inter-School Team Chess Championship, held on 3rd September at Rulang Primary School. The young OFS Chess Knights stunned their opponents by winning their first five games and securing the championship with a 2-2 draw in the final round against Catholic High School.
Top scorers for OFS were Ashwath Kaushik with 6 points and Abhigyan Jha with 5.5 points, both of whom displayed nerves of steel in numerous must-win situations. Dang Khoa Nguyen and Isaac Ziegler further solidified OFS’ first National Team Championship Title by contributing 3 and 4 points respectively.
In addition, our other 19 teams performed exceptionally well, winning 13 medals in the International Schools category and further demonstrating OFS' strength in chess.
This victory marks yet another milestone for OFS' thriving chess program. Along with Heamish Sakthivel’s triumph in the 74th National School Individual Chess Championship, OFS is now one of the few schools to boast both individual and team chess champions among its students.
Once again congratulations to all 77 OFS students for giving your very best during this full-day chess championship against Singapore’s Best. You have displayed great sportsmanship and made us very proud.
