Overseas Family School (Middle School) offers the IB Middle Years Program to students in Grade 6 to Grade 8.
The Middle Years Program (MYP) of International Baccalaureate (IB) is a 5-year course of study designed to meet the educational requirements of students in the 11-16 age range. At Overseas Family School (Middle School), students complete the first 3 years of MYP.
The IB has set the aims and objectives for 8 different Curriculum Areas. These are the MYP subjects taught in Middle School based on the Curriculum Areas:
For MYP purposes, teachers at OFS will judge the students' performance against IB prescribed assessment criteria for each curriculum area. These criteria assess the aims and objectives of the curriculum area.
At the end of each semester, students will receive a report, based on the development of skills in each MYP subject. The purpose of this is to give an indication of how students are progressing towards meeting these IB criteria. Within the OFS semester report card, students will also receive a comment on their ATL skills.
At the end of the program, (i.e. at the end of Grade 10), any student who is able to complete all MYP assessment tasks in a particular subject will receive a final OFS Statement of Results showing the MYP grade (1-7) for each subject.
