Internationalism Day

Internationalism Day

Internationalism Day provides an opportunity for our students from many diverse cultures to come to school in dress/costumes that represents their nationality.

Activities on the day include national dress parades, country displays and activities in classes that help students gain awareness and appreciation of different cultures.

Global Concert

Global Concert

Coming together to celebrate our cultural diversity through dance, music and drama. Students sing songs about global themes that also reflect their Units of Work.

Every student in the elementary school takes part in the global concert celebrations.

Holiday Concert

Holiday Concert

Respecting, understanding and appreciating other's cultures and beliefs are an important part of our curriculum.

The holiday concert is an expression of that focus as we celebrate festivals from around the world.

ES Musical

Every year in the Elementary School, our Grade 4 and Grade 5 students have the opportunity to participate in a school musical production. All students who audition are accepted and assigned a role in the musical.

Rehearsals begin in October on a weekly basis, with two evening performances taking place in early March. It is one of the many highlights in the Elementary School year.

All students go on field trips every semester to extend student enquiry, research, experience and understanding.

Book Week

Book Week

Book Week celebrations include a variety of fun-filled activities in classrooms and the Elementary Library. These include guest readers, buddy-reading, sharing class-made stories, sharing books by parents and dressing up as your favorite book character.

Art Exhibitions

Art Exhibitions

The Art Exhibitions provide an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and originality. The selected art pieces, connected to their IPC Units of Work, reflect a variety of art skills and use of media, especially the use of recyclable materials.

The exhibition is a week-long event where families and friends are welcomed to visit any time during school hours.

Model United Nations (MUN)

Model United Nations (MUN)

The Model United Nations (MUN) program is a special feature within our Elementary School curriculum. In Grade 4, students are introduced to the United Nations, its purpose and structure. They represent different countries to debate issues around a selected UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).

In Grade 5, students extend this understanding as they represent different countries around the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The experience culminates in a General Assembly which is a simulation of the actual proceedings in the United Nations.

Through this process, the students develop leadership qualities, independence, empathy, logical reasoning, perspective as well as improve on their communication skills.

Grade 5 Expo

Grade 5 Expo

This is our largest Exit Point to an IPC Unit of Work in the Elementary School. Students enquired independently in a small group into a topic of their choice related to eco-tourism and the responsibility of being a tourist as part of their learning in "The Holiday Show" unit over a 11-week period. During this time, besides developing their knowledge and understanding related to the unit, they also develop important researching, thinking, communication, self-management and social skills.

On the day of the showcase, the whole school community is invited to view students' exhibits in the Auditorium. The students enjoy presenting their work to peers, parents, teachers and visiting schools in Singapore and the region.

Languages' Week

Languages' Week

Languages' Week is a week long celebration of the fifteen languages we teach and support in the Elementary school. In a 'Language Market Place', the mother tongue and foreign language teachers set up language booths and present aspects of their language, country and culture. Students learn about the world and its diverse languages and cultures exploring the languages in the market place.

Sports Day

Sports Day

Each grade level has a Sports Day once per semester conducted in the morning. Students are organised into house colours and participate in a variety of games and activities that promote cooperation, teamwork, social interaction and physical motor skills. Points are awarded at each station and the winning house colour is the one with the most points collected.

Assemblies

Assemblies

Assemblies are organised regularly throughout the year. At assemblies, students' successes are celebrated and opportunities are provided for students to share their learning from different subjects, perform songs, skits and poetry.

Grade 5 Graduation

Grade 5 Graduation

The Grade 5 Graduation occurs in the last week of school as we celebrate the end of Elementary School for our Grade 5 students. It is a wonderful occasion for parents, students and teachers alike.

Grade 5 Camp

Grade 5 Camp

The Grade 5 Camp takes place each year for 3 days and 2 nights. Students experience camping in tents, teamwork and independence, creating an adventurous learning experience for them.

Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs)

Club Activities

Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs) are offered to Grade 2 to 5 students each semester. Students will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of clubs such Origami, Art and Craft, Social Chess and Computer Club.

Extra Curricular Activities are held once a week on Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m

OFS Tigers (Competitive Sports Teams)

OFS Tigers (Competitive Sports Teams)

A variety of sports such as Football, Basketball, Badminton, Rugby, Swimming, Girls Gymnastics and Cross-Country are offered and played at a competitive level for students in Grades 2 to 5. Students will be involved in training and inter-school friendly matches. Competitive sports teams (OFS Tigers) take part in the Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools (ACSIS), following a 3-season calendar. Students are selected for these competitive sports teams through preseason trials.

With the exception of our Competitive Swim Team and the girls Gymnastics team, the OFS Tigers typically train twice a week within the ACSIS season. This program is open to Grades 2 to 5 students on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Mini-Concerts

Mini-Concerts

These are in-class events where students have the opportunity to perform a musical item for their classmates. The item may be individual or small group, and it may involve singing, dancing, playing an instrument, or a combination of these.

Beginner String Ensemble

Beginner String Ensemble

Grade 4 and 5 students will have the opportunity to join this group where they rehearse during lunchtimes. The beginner string ensemble plays a variety of easy pieces in preparation for the Musical Soirée performance.

Rock Band

Rock Band

Grade 4 and 5 students will have the opportunity to audition for a place in our Elementary School Rock Band. The band will play a variety of current mainstream pop/rock songs and will be comprised of a guitarist, a bass guitarist, a drummer, a pianist/keyboardist, and two vocalists. Rehearsals are once a week with some opportunities to perform.

Chamber Orchestra

Selected students from Grades 4 and 5 who show a long-term commitment to learning orchestral instruments are invited to join this group. Rehearsals are once a week with some opportunities to perform.

Choir

Choir

Selected students from Grades 2 to 5 who have a strong ability or interest in singing and who show a long-term commitment are invited to join the Choir. Rehearsals are once a week and there will be opportunities to perform throughout the year.

Lunch Time Concerts

Lunch Time Concerts

There are three Lunch Time Concerts held in the Auditorium this year. Students are invited to audition to perform at these concerts. Performers may play an instrument, sing or dance. Auditions occur a few weeks before the actual concerts.

This is an evening concert featuring a variety of musical performances by selected students. Auditions occur a few weeks before the Performing Arts Concert.

Families, friends, and fellow students are invited to attend our Performing Arts Concert.
